I also wish to express my appreciation to Alan & Vanessa for a beautiful friendship connection that began with this story and their choosing to feature it on zenmoments.org. I passed this story on to Bert through the manager of the pub where we met. It is great to know that Bert realizes how much an encounter with a 'stranger' can truly mean, and the wonderful effects we can have on each others' lives! I consider this both an honour and a privilege to be included within the framework of such a great man as Spalding.
