pebbles1 About

Zen Moments are real life stories of small human responses that make a huge difference… inspiring moments of insight, authenticity, humour, wisdom or compassion.

Zen Moments happen at times when we stop pushing to try to get somewhere else, when we open our hearts and minds to the present, to that which is right in front of us…

Zen Moments are moments of magic, when everyday life meets with true awareness – moments of looking with fresh eyes… when the clarity of seeing brings forth an intelligent, beautiful and creative response.

Vanessa and Alan began Zen Moments in 2008 as a collection of inspiring stories of the power of Awareness – a project we could work on together while living far apart. After only three weeks online, a simple story from American author, Kent Nerburn: The Cab Ride I’ll Never Forget was shared on sites such as StumbleUpon & Reddit, to be discovered by more than 57,000 people from all around the world, in just one day!

Zen Moments now also has a thriving FaceBook & Twitter presence, and offers the work of inspiring writers via Zen Moments’ Bookstore.

About Alan: “I’ve been engaged in spiritual inquiry and meditation since university, spending 17 years as a Theravadin Buddhist monk in the UK, Sri Lanka, Thailand & Switzerland. I disrobed in December 2000, and occasionally teach Buddhism and meditation in local centres. I now run a computer support business and build WordPress websites.”

About Vanessa: “I was an art teacher, teaching mainly in secondary schools and alternative education centres for young people excluded from school. I spent time as ‘Mum-at-home’ for my two lovely sons – now grown. I also trained as a yoga teacher. Now I work in admin, helping some wonderful people and organisations to develop their web presence.”

We’re now married and very lucky to be living and working together on the edge of Dartmoor – a beautiful part of Devon, in the UK.

We feel very glad and privileged to be able to share our uplifting collection of stories, articles and videos, and would like to thank everyone who has contributed.

In these times of unrest and uncertainty, it is good to be reminded of the wonderful.
