My favorite would be: All man’s miseries derive from not being able to sit quiet in a room alone.

Not every moment need be surrounded by the din in the busy lives we lead. The line between "alone" and "lonely" have been blurred in society. Both are fleeting and necessary.

Truly - we need to take time in the day to fully connect with ourselves, listen to our own inner voice and be kind enough to pay attention to our own self! Then, maybe, we will have the space to really pay attention to others.

Sometimes when you're amongst people, you feel alone. Other times when you're alone, you feel at peace & connected. I like how it distinguishes between loneliness & solitude.

Thanks for the amazing quotes, it was relaxing to read. Much appreciated. My favourite was "

“Let my doing nothing when I have nothing to do, become untroubled in its depth of peace, like the evening in the seashore when the water is silent.”
Rabindranath Tagore

I would like to add this to the list:

"Tension is who you think you should be, Relaxation is who you are." Chinese Proverb

sometimes being alone saddens a person, but for people amidst the melange of daily city life, being alone repairs almost every broken pieces of our weary self. isn't it that even a moment of silence clears our mind and rejuvenates our spirit and brings out the best in us? have you noticed how wonderful the feeling is after a moment of solitude and reconnecting with your inner self? oh, how amazing! silence, solitude, aloneness -- always a welcome to a weary soul. be still.

This post is full of affirmations of what we already know deep inside ourselves. How lucky are those of us who accept that silence, solitude and being alone all contribute to a nurtured, healthy soul.

Thanks for this!
